Rotary is a worldwide organisation with 1.2 million members worldwide. We have our own charity - The Rotary Foundation which is rated as one of the top five not-for-profit non-governmental organisations in the world.
Rotary's motto is "service above self" and that is the bond which ties together the 45 members of The Rotary Club of Cirencester.
The Cirencester club was founded in 1929 by people seeking to help others… and each other; today it has the same ideals, for all its members, both men and women.
It is not just about giving aid, however important that is…and indeed we do support International crises. In the last few years fund raising has exceeded £50,000; with public support we raised over £20,000 for the Tsunami appeal, and £8000 for the Gloucestershire flood appeal.
It provides practical support to community projects, has received accolades for a wonderful wildlife project near Fairford, has helped fund a VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) volunteer who is teaching children in Vietnam, plus, many, many more other projects.
We spend two days with disabled young people from the region when they participate in a sports competitions organised by Rotary, and staged in Coventry. We hold competitions for young musicians and would-be young chefs and we also assist in the selection of young candidates to participate in RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award)

Just as important, we work hard together, enjoy socialising, and have fun as often as we can including partners.
So, if you find this interesting, you too could become a member of The Rotary Club of Cirencester.
